There was a time in my life I was not concerned much about weight or health. I was young.
Then I had two children two years apart. During this time I gained quite a bit of weight. I worked out but did not change the way I ate. I was not worried about my health.

Fast forward about 15 years. I was now 41 years old and pregnant with my third child. I gained weight during my pregnancy but I really put on the weight after he was born.
I ate donuts and hamburgers on a daily basis. Although I knew I was overweight, I could not stop myself from eating. My addiction to food was too great.
I had gained so much weight and was at least 250 lbs. Too tired to play with my 2-year-old, I would lay on the couch all day while he played next to me on the floor.
One day, it was just me and my son at home. I climbed up the stairs. When I got to the top I was so short of breath. I was sweating, nauseated and felt like I was going to pass out.
I laid on the bed for a while. I thought to myself, “Maybe I am having a heart attack?”
At that moment I was so worried about what would happen to my son if anything happened to me.
I knew something had to change.
I went downstairs and instantly started researching diets. It was then I read about the keto diet. Although I knew about the low carb diet, I knew nothing about the keto diet.
My first thinking was that I could try cutting out some of the carbs I was eating. I looked on Pinterest and found a few keto recipes.
I didn’t expect much at first. But…
Within several days I was only consuming 20 net carbs a day. I was amazed at how different I was already feeling. I had more energy. I felt more alive. The cravings to eat continuously had diminished drastically.
A few weeks later I realized my clothes were getting loose. I stopped wearing my husbands 2 XL t-shirts around the house.
Now, 7 months later, I am still living the keto way and have lost 50 lbs. I have cut out all processed carbs, sugars, and inflammatory foods out of my diet and am the healthiest I have ever been.
I still have about 40 lbs to go. But keto works! I will never go back to eating all the processed and sugary foods I used to eat.
A couple of months after I started, my husband joined. In the 5 months, he has been eating keto, he has lost 46 lbs. He has gone from a 2 xl to a medium. His blood pressure is normal. His sleep apnea is gone and he no longer snores.
